"Expertcity's GoToMyPC is still the best tool if you want full access to a remote desktop. The program is wonderfully easy to set up and use. It is fast and lets you do things you can't do with other Web-based tools, such as draw on a remote desktop and chat with the PC's owner.
To set up the service, you simply create an account on the GoToMyPC Web site, install a 1.4MB app on your host PC (the machine you want to access remotely), and assign the system a password. From then on, you'll have access to this host from any Java-enabled machine on the Internet.
Connecting requires no more than a few seconds. You open a browser, return to the GoToMyPC Web site, log in to your account, and wait for a sliver-thin client to download automatically. Once contact is made and you type in the password, up pops your remote desktop.
Remote machines respond almost instantly to mouse and keyboard commands. In our hands-on testing, navigating the remote machine appeared slightly fast-er than LapLink Everywhere's remote-desktop service and significantly faster than the service offered by I'm InTouch.
